What phones will work with T-Mobile's 3G network?

Because T-Mobile use the non-standard 1700MHz band for their 3G network, very few phones sold in Australia can access data at 3G speed and most people end up accessing data at the slower EDGE speed on T-Mobile's 2G network.

The following phones are compatible with T-Mobile's 3G network:

  • BlackBerry Bold 9780 (Optus only, the same phone from Telstra or Three will not support 3G data on T-Mobile's 3G network)
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (Optus only, the same phone from Telstra will not support 3G data on T-Mobile's 3G network)
  • Nokia N8
  • Nokia N9
  • Nokia N900
  • Nokia E6
  • Nokia E7
  • Samsung Google Nexus S

If you have one of these phones you can go on the Unlimited Talk, Text & High Speed Internet plan. This plan costs USD $60 for 30 days service or USD $70 if you also include the Unlimited International feature ($10 more than the Unlimited Talk, Text & Web plan). It gives you all the same benefits as the Unlimited Talk, Text & Web plan, except your data will be at 3G speed rather than at EDGE speed. You will need to phone us to have your SIM set up on this plan.
