No, this is a pre-paid SIM for use in a phone only and you cannot use the phone to tether to a computer (T-Mobile can tell, apparently). Don't even think about turning on the Personal Hotspot setting on your phone! T-Mobile does not allow tethering and may discontinue your service if you turn this on.
If you need wireless internet service for your computer, you may need to purchase a mobile broadband dongle when you get to the United States (Virgin Mobile is one of the few networks in the US that offers prepaid mobile broadband service). However free Wi-Fi hotspots are widespread throughout the United States so you may find that you can get buy without a dongle. If you find that relying on Wi-Fi hotspots is not satisfactory for your needs, then Best Buy electronics stores are a good place to sort out a mobile broadband dongle.
If you need wireless internet service for an iPad you will need to buy an AT&T data-only micro SIM from us. Unlike most of AT&T's wireless data plans, their iPad data is available without a contract; however you do need a US credit card to set up this service (many people buy a prepaid MasterCard or Visa card for this purpose).
